The Johnstown Mill Rats fell to the Kokomo Creek Chubs, 11-6, on Saturday night at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point. After taking an early 3-0 lead in the third inning, highlighted by Jack Newman’s two-run home run, the Mill Rats were unable to overcome a pair of big innings from Kokomo, which scored five runs in the fourth and six more in the seventh. Ty Marsh and Caleb Smith each collected three hits for Johnstown, while Marsh drove in two runs and Logan Martin added a pair of doubles. Despite adding runs in the late innings, the Mill Rats could not close the gap as Kokomo’s offense was powered by a late grand slam and several extra-base hits. The loss dropped Johnstown to 2-3 on the season heading into Sunday’s rematch.
